Miguel Figuereo Memorial Scholarship Fund
Dr. Figuero was a dental surgeon who God called to be a missionary in Bolivia.
He had a wonderful ministry and would often go into the jungle to do dental work
and present the Gospel. God used him mightily. He could have had a successful
and lucrative career yet he chose the obey God and have the BEST career, that of
sharing the Gospel in remote areas and seeing souls saved. Although he was from
Dominican Republic, his heart was truly with the Bolivian people. Many of his
supporting churches were here and when he would come on furlough he would
always say “From Puerto Rico to Bolivia, from Bolivia to Heaven”. On a boat, on
what would have been his last trip into the jungle before he retired, the Lord took
him Home. His body was never recovered. We are saddened by this loss but
greatly inspired by his ministry and devotion to the work of the Lord. In order to
encourage young men to follow his example we have set up a special memorial
scholarship in his honor. Please pray that we may be able to raise the funds for
this scholarship in order to help young men who have the call of God to serve as
missionaries and to follow Miguel’s example. Already one local church plans to
give what would have been Miguel’s support to this fund. Our prayer is that we
may be able to train men who will answer God’s call and take the Gospel to those
who have never heard, perhaps even to the same jungles that Miguel served.
