Where will you be 10,000 years from now?
One of the most important questions that you will face pertains to eternity. Where will you be 10,000 years from now? Where will you be a moment after you die?
Many believe that life is a light switch. “You die, the lights go out, and you are no more.” Some hold to the belief that they will come back as a different person or animal after death. Others believe that they will enter a higher state of consciousness. There are some who boast of being in hell and partying day and night with friends. Others hold to a hope filled with paradise in a heaven of their own making because of their vigilence in wiping out the infidel on earth. Still others believe that they will enter an intermediary state where they will undergo the purifying fires of judgment before acceptance comes from God.
However, what does the Bible teach concerning the matter of eternity? Jesus said to a man named Nicodemus in John 3:7, “You must be born again.” Nicodemus struggled with the words of Jesus and misunderstood Him. Jesus spoke of a spiritual rebirth not a physical rebirth. He spoke of the salvation of the souls of men. How is one saved or born again?
The Bible clearly teaches that all men and women “have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 6:23).” Because of the fact that all have sinned, all must die (Romans 6:23). Ultimately, death is eternal separation from God in a literal Hell.
That is news we hate to hear. We construct our own realities and deceive ourselves so much that we begin to believe falsehood and mock truth. But God loves us so much that 2,000 years ago He sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for all men (John 3:16). God made Jesus to be sin for us. He never sinned. He never knew sin, and yet He was made sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21).
God clearly showed us that He loved us by sending Christ to die for us even though we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8). Jesus died for us. He became our substitute. He is the only Way, the only Truth, and the only Life of men (John 14:6).
There must clearly come a time in your life when you acknowledge that Jesus Christ died for you. You must turn away from everyone and everything in your life that you thought would earn you merit with God. There is no religion on earth that will save men forever. There is Jesus Christ crucifed and only Jesus Christ crucified! He died, was placed in a tomb for three days, and rose from the dead on that third day. He was seen by over 500 people before He ascended into heaven 40 days after His resurrection.
You must turn from whatever you are trusting in and look to Jesus Christ as your only hope. Pray this prayer:
“God, I know that I’m a sinner. I’ve put my trust in that which does not please you. I want you to know that I believe that Jesus alone was my substitute when He died on the cross. I believe that His shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection were for me. I now receive Him as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Thank you for helping me to answer the question of where I will be 10,000 years from now!”
